Theology

Theology is Not for me, I just want to experience God.

Theology is not for me I just want to experience God, I wish I could say this wasn’t something I’ve heard before, but it is.

Usually, comes as an excuse or explanation for why someone doesn’t study theology. Ironically the definition of theology is the study of God. Unlike what many think, the purpose of theology is not to puff one up with knowledge but rather for The knowledge to humble the person studying and exalt God.

Studying theology must give us a deeper love for God, as many theologians have put it “All theology must lead to Doxology”. Doxology is the worship of God, our deeper studying and understanding of who God is should lead us to worship him.

The Bible is full of God revealing who he is and how he demands to be worshipped. When we neglect to find our more about who this God is and how he desires to be worshipped, we put ourselves at risk of doing Doxology the wrong way which is actually dangerous and sometimes blasphemous.

Every Christian should strive to be a theologian because Christianity is a journey of knowing more of God. We can’t solely rely on experiential worship, God desires that worship him in Truth (which means discerning with our minds) and in Spirit. Experience is important after all salvation is experiencing God’s outpouring love in our hearts (Romans 5), but that kickstarts a lifelong journey of discovering God. The study of God is theology.

I hope to see more people desiring to know more God and studying who he reveals to us to be through the scriptures. I hope you will join me on this journey of theology that leads to Doxology on iamnotagoddess.com!

Grace and Peace,
Dee.

Okay first up, officially a fan of this blog ?. Secondly, I totally agree with Christians being theologians. People often think that exploring and studying God is a dependence on works for Salvation, however we are told to SEEK first the kingdom of God, to knock, to ask, and to pray to be filled with the knowledge of His will through all spiritual wisdom and understanding. And as we study Him through His scripture with the guidance of the Holy Spirit, we see so many things that unravel and making sense and the beauty of God’s mystery filling with such a passion to serve this amazing God. In other words, Geeking out on the word of God is just the most awesome thing ever and I can honestly say I have never felt anything like it, y’know?

Interestingly true! We cannot worship/experience whom we do not know or it’s idolatry/superstition (Acts 17). God has made Himself known.
