Before you start reading this blog please click this link to watch the first video I have done on this journey, and please subscribe to my YouTube channel while you are at it:). Now that we have the business out of the way, let’s get to the real reason why you are here, me going vegan, woohoo!
I’ve wanted to go vegan (no meat and meat products) for a while, but I never really had the courage and the will to, the desire to eat meat was so much stronger. One major reason why I am taking a break from meat in November is for the sake of personal discipline, I am trying to train myself to live a life of self-denial. One of the commands that Jesus gives us as his followers it to deny ourselves, pick up our cross and follow him. I am not only giving up meat but also Instagram and Twitter as a way of teaching myself self-denial, saying no to myself especially the things I not only want but have easy access to.
I think the Christian life is a life of consistent discipline, what’s discipline without saying no; first to myself and then to others. We have been programmed to pursue self-gratification above all else, everything is me centred and about fulfilling MY needs, the Christian life is the exact opposite of that. I am hoping that giving up these things that are a very important part of my life reminds me of the bigger picture.
The second reason is for my health; I want to see if not eating meat will help me feel better physically. A lot of people say they started feeling better after giving up meat, my dad had actually been a vegan for the past 9/10 years and it significantly improved the quality of His life. But I also know its not for everyone, so we will see.
I am going to try share as much as I can as the journey goes, I am really excited, I have never challenged myself like this before. I practice lent, but I have not given up anything that’s an everyday part of my life like this.
Would you ever give up meat for anything? If not meat, what would you give up? Let me know in the comment section below!

November 1, 2018 at 7:25 pmI gave up Insta because my phone didn’t have space but all through giving it up I have saved airtime bundles but most importantly haven’t felt a large need to seek gratification one of the few things I have recently found not to be a fan of is me being in pictures. I rarely pose and would be excited for pictures these days and similar my posts on social media have increased and have been able to think more realistically. Wishing you all the best on your journey and I honestly want to give up meat for a while go on a vegetarian diet.
